ACT-I-VATE, Eisner, APE
Thursday, May 5th, 2011 by Shannon WheelerBusy year…
I’m on the end run for the art for the Oil and Water graphic novel.
APE just announced that I’ll be a guest this year (too cool!).
The view-count for the free “I Thought You Would Be Funnier” crested 10,000, which is a positive sign for my Eisner nomination.
I got nominated for an Eisner! How cool is that? (register to vote here if you’re a professional)
New cartoons of mine are up on ACT-I-VATE.
More news to announce soon.
And here’s a cartoon

And my weekly update:
BOOM! made my book online for free:

And I stumbled across this quote that is painfully prescient.

Eisner online voting is fixed!
Saturday, April 30th, 2011 by Shannon Wheeler
It’s been a roller coaster of emotions lately. From finding out that I’m nominated for Best Humor Publication Eisner Award to finding out that I was accidently left off the online ballot. Hats off to the Eisner people were quick to fix the mistake and they’re allowing people to go back and change their vote if they’re so inclined. I’ve gotten more press than I expected getting the word out too. People have been really supportive. I’ve got to say that the comics community is a good one.
Top Shelf just put in a plug for me to boot.

My publisher, BOOM!, has put made it available to read online for free:

and if you’re a voting professional they’ll even send you a copy if you ask.

Eisner Award Ballot is officially fixed!!!!!!!
Tuesday, April 26th, 2011 by Shannon Wheeler
The Eisner Award ballot is officially fixed! Hopefully I didn’t lose too many votes. Though now I can blame the computers if I lose. Ha.
Official statement:
“Because of a computer glitch, one of the nominees was missing from the Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards online ballot when it first went live. In the humor category, Shannon Wheeler’s ‘I Thought You Would Be Funnier’ was left out. The error was caught and the title is now listed. However, some people had already voted in the interim. Fortunately, anyone who votes in the Eisners can change their votes at any time up to the deadline of June 13. Voters who change their minds about their choices in any category can revisit www.eisnervote.com prior to that date. Votes can also download a pdf file of the ballot and mail it in. That file was unaffected by the error.”
If you are a professional in the industry, please help this poor soul and consider voting for me.

New Cartoon
Wednesday, April 13th, 2011 by Shannon WheelerI still can’t believe that I’m nominated for an Eisner Award… Holy crap.
Last week’s cartoon is a redraw of an old comic. A couple things about the old page always bugged me – nice to clean it up.
I’m selling this original too… e-mail me if you’re interested in it…
